I'm a granny

My lovely grandson was born on the 30th December.

This is a quilt that I've been planning to make since my daughter was 11. She designed this tessellating pattern at an after-school maths class. I have held on to her picture for all these years; moved countries, moved house several times, put all my belongings in storage twice and I lost it in the last move! So this is my version of her design as I remembered it.

His name is Fox so I had to use this fabric on the back.

Detail of the free motion quilting.

  2. Yay, how exciting Rona! What an unusual name - Fox, but I kinda like it. What a great quilt, with a great story - sure to become if not an heirloom, something that is kept and remembered with love.

  3. Congratulations Rona! He's beautiful, and I'm sure a lot bigger by now. That quilt is great too, such a cool story behind it.

  4. MUM!! I'm a horrible daughter and not been looking at your blog fooooooreeeeeeveeeeer!! Shame on me :(

Let it be known that I adore this quilt. Fox has well outgrown being able to use it now that he is big ol' toddler so I'm going to hang it in his room instead. But it is definitely something very special :)
