Day 5

Quilting with black thread seems to have become a theme. It wasn't intentional but I'll go with it for now.

I decided to use some fabric I created in a surface design class I ran. The roofs are made from a commercial fabric but all the little houses are made from the fabric on the left below. 

Day 3 and 4

Day 3, I finally managed to see the news and Amatrice was on my mind.

I'm trying to do these mini quilts with the minimum of sketching and editing. I'm finding it difficult to quieten that critical voice in my head and just accept what I produce. It's an interesting process.

OMG! I bought a house.

I went to an auction honestly believing that I didn't have a chance at this property. House prices have been going crazy here in Tauranga - but, after a little negotiating, it's mine!

And here is my Day 2 of the 100 days project. I should have put the sold sticker a bit further up but I'm challenging myself to just go for it and not endlessly plan. The idea is just to make something!

This is about 5cm squared. The background is a rubbing made with the tools below, then quilted and coloured in. Very simple but maybe I'll get more adventurous as time goes on.
